I have a jet pump that needs a check valve installed on the inlet side. The max water pressure is probably going to be 60 psi or less. The pump has 1" PVC connected to it. I need to cut the PVC about 4' out from the pump and and put the check valve in between two plastic fittings. The plastic fittings are male threaded and the check valve has female threads.

I have done something similar to this before using teflon tape and had a hard time getting a good seal. Would pipe dope work better or do you guys have any other recommendations?

I have used a pipe dope with teflon in it with a good success...
