03-31-2011 08:22 AM Mostly wipers and dash
Got the wiper wired up, and working on 12v. Will not run with the drop I bought. Luckily I bought and relocated an old wire diagram I bought online years ago. I never would have figured out which pins the wires to the wiper went into without it.

Also put the glovebox door back on as well. Will put the 57 year old cardboard box in after I'm all done in the dash. You have to appreciate a part made of paper that sat inside a car for 50 years without falling apart.

03-21-2011 07:53 PM Electric Work
Went to work on the 54 today. Got some of the electronics under the dash working.

Heater fan and defroster fans now run though on a 12v not 6 but they seem fine. Panel lights done but need to get some 12 v bulbs in there and check them out as well.

Will hit radioshack for a diode so i can get a hi-beam indicator.

Cig lighter also works now.

Need some screws to mount the headlights. Had enough for one, but not the other. Must have misplaced a baggie. So a trip to fastenal as well for more bolts.

Ok we got in the -10 -20 range last night. I don't know the last time I added antifreeze to the 54 but it was not very green... When I got home from work after worrying all day it had gotten up to 17 F. Opened the cap and it was full and liquid. So no immediate signs of cracks.

Drained out 1.5 gallons and replaced it with pure antifreeze. Ran it for a while and warmed it up. Seems ok for now.
