Back at work on the 39 Chevy!! Enough of working on everyone elses stuff!
This pic shows what you encounter on a 65 year old heap. The passenger side inner and outer cowl supports were toast. Burnt toast! There was virtually no support left in these parts. The roofline was supported by 1/2" pipes with a piece of allthread and a few nuts, to keep everything in place while changing them out. The outer cowls were by EMS. I was not impressed with the fit. They look like they were stamped for another year. They required extensive modifications to make them fit. Still easier than completely fabbing them though.
Its been a while, but the camaro project is progressing, as well as other projects.
New rear quarters, new outer wheelhouses, new trunk extensions, new rear panel.....Hand fabbed trunk patches. Good thing its my brothers. I'd never dump this kind of cashs in a tank like this. $1500 + in sheetmetal..... OOOFA!
Rockers are like $60.00 each. (according to brother) Looks like we can fab those patches easy enough. There is enough existing to get a good idea of what we need.
The outer wheelhouse are $90.00, but I can not make that many patches that cheap. Too many complex curves, and without knowing how far the inner lip extends, it will be easier to buy them and be done with it.
Have to wait a week or so to get them. :-(
Goodmark quarters, made in Taiwan for American Muscle. THAT my friends is a TRADGEDY!
