How about a flathead hitting 135 on the Salt FLats. Gene STILL drives this hot rod out there. The Tranny cover in the beginning is for this car. It was a must, due to Bonneville's rulings.

One of the cars Gene built back in the 50's that he restored in the 60's only to restore it again, recently. We're talking OLD SKOOL. This had the 3 strombergs with a blower. Now, 4 kittens and mother occasionally take residence when its really hot out. Afterall, its a roadster!

Dan (Dinger) is illustrating the use of a punch press with a louver die, making a louvered panel (to be autographed by Gene).

Here is Dan (Dinger) working with Gene on a patch. A great moment in automobile history caught forever in celluloid, well, pixels, and megabytes and internet stuff like that ! :-)
Really, he's just playing "firewall" by holding the host piece steady so Gene could weld it. A vice would have done the same thing, but it was "Audience Participation" hour.
Sidenote: Ya HAVE to meet Dinger. What a great guy ! If your near Visalia, CA., look him up!

This pic just illustrates that you can gas weld (fuse) a patch by yourself, if the patch fits tight enough.
