Once the area is sooted up, begin to heat the panel and burn off the soot. When the soot is burned off, the auminum is annealed.

DONT go crazy with the heat, or you'll end up with a modern day Picasso sculpture. Just heat enough to burn off the soot. No more. The panel WILL harden again in time, and after working the panel. Re-annealing may be required.

Step one of annealing:

Torch must be set very rich with acetylene. Little or no O2. Soot up the area to be annealed.

This pipe form is simple enough for ANYONE to make. It will also cut your bending time to nothing. 3 basic diameters and you can bend simple curves all day long. One question come to mind. Why didn't I think of it?
