Here are a couple more shots from the rear showing the completed sides of the skeleton. The shots give a hint of how the rear deck/trunk area will look.

Both sides of the skeleton are now completed. The photos below show the two sides mocked up as they will be positioned on the chassis. You can begin to see the outlines of the roadster body and how it will appear when finished.

2/1/2005

[This entry goes out to Walt and the gang at Lakes Propane in Minocqua, WI. Walt tells me they are fans of HR.Com and they have the site bookmarked on the company computer so they can follow the Rat build on a regular basis. Naturally they ONLY check in during their lunch hour and coffee breaks.]

The passenger side skeleton is a mirror image of the just completed driver side. The jambs, hinges and latch installation were done exactly as shown for the drivers side in the prior journal entries. Also, identical rib pieces we cut from 1x1 and 1x2 tubing. All the pieces for the passenger side were then laid up against the corresponding pieces on the finished driver side and clamped in place. This insures the two sides will be exactly identical.

Photos #1 and #2 show the components for the passenger side skeleton clamped to the corresponding pieces on completed drivers side and ready for welding.
