Wesley put the first coat of paint (although it was high solids primer) on the car converted truck. Its finally starting to look like something. I'm going to leave some of the old welds unfinished on the roof line just so you can see the neat idea the original hotrodder did when he converted this from a car to a truck sometime during WW2 when these were being converted to trucks to get extra gas ration coupons.

Working on the body, Wes drilled holes in the visor, I worked on the grille shell. I sunk 7/8" tube behind the holes in the grille to firm it up a bit and give it a little depth. We started a first coat of bondo on the roof lines too.

When my truck was converted from a sedan to a truck, the skins from the back doors were installed in the insert of the roof. When you look at the roof it has the same contours of the Dodge Viper roof but it was done over sixty years earlier.

When my truck was done the first time. Not quite sure when, early forties or fifties though, but the cab seams were all filled with lead without removing the dents. There were some areas Wes pounded out that had over a inch of lead in them.

Wes is really old school, he picks and metal files everything. You can smell the metal as he works away its pretty interesting to see the way they used to do it. The metal just gleams after it has been reworked.
