Monday 30th -
After a weekend of welding, grinding, filling, sanding and painting the ard fingers are a touch skinned. So an evening of installing the rear axle may be of a relief. After bolting into place we leveled the chassis side to side, centred the axle in the chassis and began the aligning process front to back.
Plumb lines were placed in position. One dead centre of the front cross member and one each side hanging from the outermost surface of the shafts in their centres.
With the pinion angle set at 4 degrees + [this is approx what the engine/trans angle is set at] we recorded measurements front to back on both sides and adjusted the four link accordingly. Note when adjusting, both upper and lower links are adjusted equally.
After approx 1 hour we were spot on with the settings. All double checked again for all levels and equal measurements.
All that remains is for the pinion angle to be equaled up with the engine/trans angle when they are installed.
Fabrication of an aluminium heat shield around the tank has also begun. This reason for this will become apparent when the exhaust is reinstalled.

With all brackets and access holes in place, all the welds are smoothed ready for priming of the completed chassis.
Work to fit all brake lines and the fuel line can now begin.
Stay tooned :-)

With the chassis now bare, easier access for fabrication and welding of necessary brackets are completed.
These were to mount and route all brake lines, power steering pump, transmission cooler, and fuel lines.
