With the MDF removed all looked well so extra fibreglassing was added to strengthen and build up the low areas

Lights !!!!!
After LOTS of head scratching I have finally come up with the 1st stage of a modern design light but which also blends in nicely with the OEM Willys lights.
Taking the Mini Cooper lens and cutting away the chrome trim left me with the perfect shape and size to fit the William.
MDF shaped, glassed into position then removed gave me the required small recess / slight Frenched look I was after to mount the lens to. A frame of timber and box steel was constructed to hold the MDF shapes in position (sorry no pics)

The remainder of the grill plates were made and bolted into place. Then the completed grill was ground into the shape you see using an angle grinder. The rear of the grill (not seen) is to be milled flat, then after disassembling all of the individual plates will be hand finished, polished and probably chromed.
The latest engine pic shows most of the plumbing done ready for coolant so a full hot run on the engine can be done.

MINI Cooper Headlights were broken down to use the cover and trim only. These will be molded into the wings, then 7" headlights will be mounted in the upper section behind leaving the area below to mount indicators.

The grill under construction is made from 5mm ali plate individually cut to shape then bolted together using 10mm threaded bar and 11mm ali spaces. Each piece when fitting is complete will be polished and chromed
