Work progresses on the boot area. The sides are fabricated using 1.5mm sheet steel. Horizontal strips are welded to the bottom edge and around the rain gutter. These are adhered and riveted into position.

As can be seen the engine/bulkhead NEEDS a tad of alteration to give acceptable clearance.
Steering column removed gave easier access and an opportunity to finish the machine work it requires.

A few pics of the headers viewed from the wheel arches. Also the 1st stage of the drivers inner door takes shape using mdf, the originals supplied with the kit were unusable.

Back from a visit to the Goodguys Hot Rod nationals at Indy and eager to get back to it.
BODYWORK TIME. the shell is lowered and bolted back to the chassis after first cutting away clearance for the exhausts, brake pedal and engine [now moved back 1.5" to allow more room upfront for the radiator].
Timber pieces are glued in place around the boot floor, over the interior floor [allowing ample exhaust clearance] and brake pedal area. Some of which were installed before the body was lowered. A couple of coats of lacquer and release agent then fiberglass could begin.
2 layers of medium weight fiberglass were layed direct to the areas [note no gel coat being used, this is because after removing all timber pieces the floor will receive further fiberglassing to the underside].
