July 2010

Decided to just get on with it and paint the Willys myself with help form my old pal Jack. A trip over on his Triumph for a long weekend on the Isle of Man was enough to encourage him over. The task in store wasn't quite what he/we had expected.
The plan to completely paint the car over the four days was a little optimistic. We did however get the doors, bonnet and boot lid in basecoat.
A cracking job done even though we say so ourselves.

The last major surface in need of a good smoothing is the underside of the bonnet [hood]. Lots of reversed curves and recesses make the task interesting to say the least.
The extra boxing at the top adds more rigidity and serves as a cover for the 2 catches.

Radiator shroud is the final piece in need of smoothing.

Well it's been awhile and lots have gone on, although NOT to plan. I am not going to go into it right now but to sum up Willys is still in primer.
June on the Isle of Man is TT so the Willys is back on the road for some much needed cruising. First stop is Ramsey sprint day, an 1/8th mile Dragrace event on the promenade [bikes only].
Our newly formed club the Manx Drag Racing Association set up a stand and displayed some of the machinery which will be racing at our first Drag race event in Sept this year.
