05-28-2011 08:20 PM Back to the Back Seat
Still had the middle two braces to finish. Thought about cutting and pasting the whole thing. Then decided one cut, some bending, and a few short pieces of rod would do the trick.

I found a place on line that sells repops of the mid-60's/early 70's seat retainers. Started bending seat rod to make it work.

05-28-2011 08:15 PM Power Seat Wiring
Bad weather. Long days at work.

On the good side, our daughter graduated last weekend. No work on the car, but seeing her graduate was much better than hot rodding.

Back at it today. Got the wiring done for the power seats. Had to install Packard ends on the seat motors.

Added some wire and Packard ends to the harness and this wiring is done. Only have a few more circuits to finish.

05-14-2011 07:26 PM Front Seats
Late start today. Cold. Helped wife set up garage sale.

Don came by on Tuesday and said he agreed with me that the driver's seat was in a good place.

Today the passenger seat was located, the holes drilled, and the seat was bolted in (for now, anyway).

Quit early to take down garage sale, so didn't get the wiring of the seats done. Next week.

05-10-2011 06:18 AM More Trunk Welding
When the floor brace was cut to allow for seat belt installation, it left the brace a little flimsy. I cut four end caps and welded them in. They stiffened the brace up considerably. I may still add a piece of angle to bridge the three sections together.

05-07-2011 11:04 PM Fixing Plugged Holes
Trying to finish off the trunk.

Since I had previous experience grinding off weld blobs only to see the "weld" fall out of the hole, I wanted to make sure these were fused to the base metal. Dumb bell welds. The blob on the outside and the blob on the inside hold them in place.

There were also MIG spiders and pinholes. I want a Starlight Coupe, but seeing points of light through the sheet metal wasn't what I had in mind.

Finally, there were four screws with the heads cut off filling holes. I removed them and plugged those holes with weld.

Got called away before I got to weld the covers on the openings in the brace that resulted from fitting the seat belts.

I also found a hole in the trunk floor. Looks like I am going to be cutting out a chunk and replace it. Will the welding and grinding ever end?
