08-28-2011 07:00 AM Seat Belts
The driver's seat went back in and the seat belt set was mocked up.

The latch belt will be mounted to the floor with an "L" bracket from the Juliano's kit. Once the proper location was established, three holes were drilled; one for the bolt to hold the "L" bracket down and two for the rosettes which will hold the reinforcing plate to the floor. After the photo was taken, the reinforcing plate was installed. The belt will attach to the "L" bracket with a bolt.

The retractor assembly will attach to the inner quarter panel at the bottom of the "B" pillar. The reinforcing plate had to be modified to fit. It will be attached with a rosette through the small hole in the inner quarter. The "L" bracket will be welded to the floor and the inner quarter.

After the two lower attachments were welded in place, my wife helped me locate the upper mount for the shoulder belt portion of the three point belt assembly. Time was up before I could get the reinforcing plate for it modified and welded in. Cleaned up the garage and then me. Off for tacos at Tin Star!

Now that I have figured out how to do the driver's side, the passenger side should be a snap. After I reinforce the floor for the seat mounts and put the patch panel in the trunk floor, the car should be ready to go on the rotisserie for final floor prep and frame crossmember building.

The fillers were welded in and then the welds were ground down.

The seats were put back in. The reinforcing plates and seat belts will go in next.

08-13-2011 09:10 PM Floor Under Seats.
It is hard to believe it has been two months since I worked on the car. Travel for work and the heat have been a hindrance.

The floor needs reinforcement plates under the seat mounts next to the drive shaft tunnel. The beads rolled into the floor would make it difficult.

Hammering them out was out of the question. The floor is already stretched a bit from weight over time.

The beads were cut out. Filler pieces were cut to fit.

Unless I wanted to modify the seat even more, the catch would have to extend beyond the edge of the seat riser on the floor. I laid out a couple of brackets, cut them out and formed them. The brackets and catch were tacked in in case they need to be moved later. So far so good.

Still had the middle two braces to finish. Thought about cutting and pasting the whole thing. Then decided one cut, some bending, and a few short pieces of rod would do the trick.

I found a place on line that sells repops of the mid-60's/early 70's seat retainers. Started bending seat rod to make it work.
