Passenger side welded in.

Driver side made and welded in.

To do list for Saturday.

Locate and weld in rear seat shoulder harness retractor reinforcing plates.

Locate and weld in spare tire hold-down.

Find and install passenger side kick panel locator.

Then the car can be blown apart and put on the rotisserie.

09-19-2011 10:46 PM Front Seat Reinforcement
The bucket seat mounts needed reinforcement on the inboard side. Carbon steel strips of 10 ga., 3" wide by about 17" long were obtained. Starting with the passenger side, one end of the reinforcement was formed to fit into the recess in the floor at the front floor brace. Nuts were welded to the reinforcement.

The floor had the rust and paint removed. Weld through primer was applied to the floor and reinforcement.

Ran out of time before I got a chance to put in the rosettes. It's all set to weld in the next time. Then the driver side.

09-18-2011 04:22 PM Trunk Floor and Rear Window
Finished the patch in the trunk floor. While I was back there with the torch, I located and filled some pin holes around the trunk floor extension I installed back in November (see entry #341).

The black piece is the spare tire hold down bracket. It will be located and welded in soon.

The rear window glass was removed. Got it out with no chips or breaks just in case it will clean up. These things are expensive.

With the glass out, the mounts for the rear seat belt shoulder harnesses can be installed.

Just a few more items and the body can go on the rotisserie.

09-10-2011 09:36 PM Trunk Floor
I thought I had fixed all of the trunk floor. After I got the battery box installed I found a couple of pin holes in the area between the reinforcing channels. I knew the area was pitted, just didn't know it was that bad.

The area to remove was drawn out and cut. A panel was made and trimmed to fit. It is about 3/4 welded in. Tin Star time. Didn't get all the welding done before it was time to go eat tacos!

09-10-2011 09:32 PM Seat and Belt
Once I was satisfied the seat bottom was properly positioned, the catches were finish welded. Today was not good looking weld day!

The reinforcing plate for the passenger side shoulder belt was installed. All anchor points for the front belts are now installed.
