08-09-2014 10:36 PM Getting Ready for the Rotisserie
Slow start this morning. More rain.

I did drag out the Bullard Free Air system I bought at auction several years ago. I got it for a song ($35 bucks for it plus a whole lot of other junk I don't need). The hood was bad but there was the pump and a long hose (at least 50 ft.). So, today it got tested to see if it works. Works like a champ. Called the paint store to see if they have a hood. They need to call the warehouse and call me back. If they call back, it will probably be Monday. Found it on line but I would prefer local. Spent some time trying to refurb the old one. Waste of time.

The car needs to go back on the rotisserie to get the last of the floor cleaned plus the rust bloom that has occurred since the cleaning started (see entry #455 - over two years ago!). The areas which are going to receive the truck bed liner include the wheel wells up to the lip which contacts the fender so as to eliminate the need for a welt. So, both wheel wells got cleaned today. Fingers crossed. Maybe I can vaca Thur. and Fri. and have the underside in primer by the end of next weekend.

08-08-2014 08:43 PM Getting My Feet Wet On The Exterior
Removed the paint and surface rust from the right rear quarter. Started on the wheel housing but it is going to be a lot of hard, dirty work.

I decided to take a chance. There are a lot of rust pits where the chrome used to be. There are those who say, ''Cut out all the rust and replace it with new metal.'' I would never get this car done! So, I checked the Loctite Extend web site as well as some others. According to everyone I could find who posted, this stuff should be OK under epoxy.

I also did a test run of All Metal filler above the window opening and on the weld seam where the lower quarter patch was attached.

08-08-2014 08:32 PM Second (Final) Insulate / Sound Proof Coat
Concentrated on the roof, floor, firewall, and package shelf. There is enough left over to maybe do the trunk if desired. I also put seam sealer on the trans tunnel and second coated it. Time to turn my attention to the exterior.

Shot the first coat of the HyTech Sales SC#1000 thermal and sound barrier. One gallon down, one to go.

08-05-2014 08:36 PM Getting Ready to Insulate / Soundproof
Last night the second coat of primer went on. When done, I was amazed at how good it looked. It has come so far in only eight short years!

Tonight, I took care of some seam sealer on the wheel houses and lap seams on the floor. Dynamat was put in over the POR-15 I did a couple days ago. And I masked getting ready to shoot.
