I haven't been working on the Studebaker much, so I still need to fix the gas tank. I'm sure when the weather gets nicer I will want to get it done! So I have been drawing instead, here are my submissions for this months hotrodders art contest for non-woody station wagon hot rods. You can vote here http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/vote-february-2012-hot-rod-art-contest-non-woody-station-215135.html
This is a pretty new gas tank, both tabs on the pass side broke right off. I heard something rubbing on the way back from lunch today. I looked under and saw this! ... it was the filler neck rubbing on the trunk. Guess I should have had the tank sitting on something instead of only supported by the tabs... lesson learned. I didn't think these would break. Could have been a dangerous, lucky I found it. Time to take the tank out :-(
When I am not working on my Studebaker I like drawing. This is the first month I entered the hotrodders art contest, here is one example. Check out my other work, it is at the bottom of the web page, here is the link. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/vote-january-2012-hot-rod-art-contest-extreme-hot-rods-213229.html
This one is a rear engine hot rod roadster truck. Vote for StudebakerMatt! Thanks!
Here is the old dash, I had frenched in some gauges a while back. I cut out the center section so I could weld the new dash on top of it and still have the same mounting locations.
This shows tacking it on, fitting it in the car and most of the welding done. I trimmed the old dash from the back when it was mostly welded. Still need to finish the sides.
