03-14-2011 01:09 AM Roll Bar
There are few rules in New Zealand about building a car, the date you start the build whatever the laws that has been put in at this time must be applied to the car. So safety belts across the lap and diagonal from the shoulder must be installed. This makes it a bite difficult when building an open vehicle especially a T-Bucket as you sit higher than the back of the car & the belt must be above the shoulder so the easiest way is to add a roll bar & incorporated the safety belts in the riser so it's above the shoulder.
Side impact steel reinforcing in all fiberglass cars this makes adding a roll bar a bit easier as I don't need to take the bar to the chassis. If I had waited a few more years airbags would have needed to be added also.
Photo 1 Roll Bar manufactured from 2 ½" od 1/4" wall thickness tried bending it with my pipe bender broke the form so sent it out to be bent.
Photo 2 I cut the ends out to fit around the inside frame.
Photo 3 Fitted to bucket before welding.

Have been looking at steering wheels for some time now found this one at Repco the price started at $150 a month ago and was reduced to $49.95 in a sale this weekend what a score.
Even better the hub that was donated to me a few years ago fitted the steering wheel & the shaft.
Photo 1 Hole cut through the fire wall and steering shaft added top brackets need to be replaced just temp at the moment

01-24-2011 01:35 AM Radiator installed
Photo 1: Installed the radiator to find it has been damaged in the move not seriously hopefully a radiator comb will take the dents out.
Photo 2: Radiator from the top still need to work out how to mould the cover around it that looks good
Photo 3: the worst of the dents, may need to paint it black this may cover up the marks on the fins.
