Front shock to bat wing manufacturing.
Got a piece of 1" ½ 4140 shaft steel and machined to the size of the shock rubber bushing. Needed to ensure I could get a good strong weld so I could sand and polish for chrome plating.

Drawn the four bar lower brackets up on cad and sent the drawing to the laser cutters. Saved heaps of time at a very lower cost. Welded the tubes in and tack welded to the chassis. Assemble the bars to the chassis.

08-28-2008 06:23 PM Steering Box revisited
Entry #35 has gone out the window. I didn't like the look of the box section hanging down so out it goes. Purchased a high torque starter motor which is allot smaller than the standard one. This enabled me to push the steering box further forward and higher from the ground. Welded a 2" wide 3/4" thick plate to the bottom of the chassis to strengthen the mounting of the steering box. Should look good once it is chromed.

Welded 1/4 inch plates to these so I can bolt them on. This was done so I could get them chromed. Also if I decide later to change the shocks un-bolting is better than a gas torch.
