12-01-2012 09:07 PM Fuel Tank Polishing
Started on polishing the Fuel tank today. First had to modify a few tools to make the work easier.
Photo 1 The arbor which needed a 1/2 shaft to fit the power drill, glad I had a lathe.
Photo 2 The drill with the 3M Scotch Brite wheel came first. This took all the serious marks off.
Photo 3 The next step the polishing mop and polishing brick.
Photo 4 What it looked like before I started, not looking forward to the task.
Photo 5 The end cap polished
Photo 6 The tank polished, after the mop and soap came the metal liquid polish.
It took 4 hours and a few breaks to let the drill cool down, Pity the tank will be inside the tray & not seen.

11-26-2012 12:26 AM Carb Cables
Purchased a few cables from speedway this week S/Steel braided accelerator and kick-down cables with the polished bracket. A very nice addition to the carbs. These are all Lokar products
Photo 1 The bracket
Photo 2 The bracket mounted to the carb, front view glad it fitted without having to remove the air filter.
Photo 3 The bracket from the back view
Photo 4 The spring and cable adjuster setup
Photo 5 A view of the cables I need to get the bucket back on before I can install these to ensure they fit right.

11-24-2012 11:03 PM Fuel Filter
Purchased Fuel Filter nice looking fuel filter tried to get the holder for it but the supplier had none in stock, As I had some 1 aluminum plate left over I decided to manufacture one that could be fixed to the S/Steel tank. Gave me a chance to try out the 4 jaw chuck on the lathe worked very well.
Photo 1 The Fuel filter
Photo 2 Filter and the bracket I made
Photo 3 Positioned both onto the tank
Photo 4 The same S/Steel braided hoses fittings and hoses as used on the oil cooler.
Photo 5 Completed, all I need to do now is polish the tank, it will be a big job so I will leave for another day.

11-24-2012 10:49 PM Oil cooler piping
I did not like the S/Steel hoses going to the oil filter with hose clips on them so out they went and for a small amount of money purchased some polished hose fitting.
Photo 1 The old connections
Photo 2 The new fittings fitted to the cooler
Photo 3 Marked out the length, wrapped tape around the area I was going to cut it. Using a 1/8 cut off blade in the angle grinder sliced through the braid like butter.
Photo 4 The completed item.

11-24-2012 10:30 PM Roll Royce and Bentley club
On my travels the other day the Roll Royce and Bentley club was staying the same hotel as me; I managed to take a few photos before I was told off. They were not very sociable as I was leaving a truck driver decided to wake everyone up by driving through the font wall of the hotel just missing a few of these very nice old relics.
