I figured that if i moved the radiator back the hood would lie flatter, closer to level, so i cut off the old mounts, and moved it back about four inches.

The guy that used to do my welding was lazy, and didn't want to work around the steering box, but the radiator only had to move one inch off center to work.

I also get rid of that ugly shroud a had to make, so i dont have to make hood sides to hide all of that.

The hood is almost level now, and i can cut the grill shell down about three or four inches, and have a nice slope on the hood, i hope. Ten days to the Heavy Rebel Weekend.

Pic 1, the amount moved, #2 the supports in the new location, 3# radiator in place.

Laid the chevy hood on the ratster, it comes real close to fitting. Similar to the rear deck, i think. The grill shell needs to be cut down, i want the hood to slant down from the cowl. I think i will lose the Mercedes grill. Next time i get to work, i will pull the grill and start hacking.

Major decision to hinge from the front, the rear, or make it lift off.

Got a few little patches welded on, sanded the deck and primered it. This might be a $50.00 paint job, if i'm not careful

Got the Ratster back from the shop, inspected and all. Learned a few things. Most of my wiring problems were caused by cheap components, the horn button and the cut-off switch had both died, and the rest of the failures were caused by the crimp on things being no good.

Thanks, Mr, Moore.

Picture of race car cut off switch. Now to put a hood and paint on this by the Fourth.
