12-02-2008 01:49 PM The Reason
Here are some shots of the vanished parts of the body. I decided that this was way too far gone to save. If i can get the windshield frame together enough to hold the glass, i will be one happy boy.

12-02-2008 01:43 PM More Tacks
Tacked the roof together, with a brace inside. Most of this will be cut away later. Then put in a brace at the rear wall for stiffness and as a body mount.

Welded on the hood corners, or what ever those are called. We will, once we get the firewall welded on, cut the ends of the fenders and the back off the hood off, and try to mold all that together into one piece.

And stood it up on its back

John came over to help, and we got the body tacked back together. First the back, then lined up the front, tacked that in, added a few patches...

11-27-2008 02:06 PM When i ruin something...
It stays ruin't. Cut 14 inches out of the center of the 61 Chevy, and still have about 54 inches of interior room for my big fundamentals.

Now if i can stick it back together....

All i really need is for the windshield to fit.

I cut off the whole firewall, so i can use it as one piece, trimmed to fit, natch.

11-17-2008 02:25 PM Other Side
The other door is hacked in. Now to lift off the body and narrow it.. Then i will push this off the deck, and strip down the van.

The cold is not too bad, but the short days are a real hold back.
