The tubing i had bent was nowhere near as smooth as i wanted, and a lot more expensive. So now i will have to cover all this with sheet metal, to make it curve right.

And the proportions of this body are a lot taller than the Ratster, so all that will have to be rethought.

Anyway got one side roughed in, trying to do all this with metal, no more fiberglass. We will see.

Welded some 1 x 3 " tubing along the bottom of the doors, set it down and cut the top off. Now to have some tubing bent to make the door cutoffs, and go back to taking the van apart.

Jesse finally came and got the 47 Rat. Yay. Now there are only three dead trucks in my yard.

Drove it on the trailer, which counts as a win

Laid the engine in place to look at it, and to get it out of my way. Looks like the old engine in the truck was a 292, so i will have to make motor mounts, or use the ones on the van frame or something. I think i will try to weld the doors and cut the top off tomorrow and roll this out of my way for the time being.

10-30-2008 04:27 PM Clean Up
This time i will try to rebuild this rustbucket from the bottom up. Today i cut away a bunch of rust, the two front body mounts, and bought some 1 x3 oblong tubing which will get welded under the door sills to hold the body together.

Still trying to figure out the best order to do this job. I have to narrow the body, channel it over the frame, weld the doors shut, cut off the top and make the door cutouts.

I think that list is just backwards. weld the doors, cut off the top, make the door cutouts, then narrow the body, and finally channel it over the frame.

Plan
