I was going to fix the grill on the Ratster, i have a plan, but i got working on the body mounts for the 47. That is the hardest, most painful job on this one so far. What with dripping weld down on my arms and trying to drill steel pushing up, it has been a royal pain..
I think it would have been aggro thirty years ago, now it's a little over the top. Somehow i seemed to have got old without ever growing up.
Anyway, it's bolted down now, on rubber mounts, and i found this battery box in the junk pile, it fits on the firewall here. Obviously it's just sitting there now.. And it will need a support on the bottom, too. But no biggie..
This one is getting closer. Bolt down the steering column, hook up a throttle pedal and mount the beer keg gas tank.
Went to a little cruise in last night and talked to a guy about his 50 ford pickup rat rod.. Mitsubishi frame, 302, automatic, pretty nice.. He said he drove it to Atlanta and back last week.
He let me drive it around the parking lot and it's pretty smooth, even if the steering wheel is made out of horseshoes and the shifter is a machete.
