06-11-2008 07:39 PM Nasty Day
Lot of work with not much to show for it. Put in the left side body mounts. Welding overhead while lying on my back is not a fave.

But there it is. And sanded the fiberglass down in the Ratster, ready to paint.

06-11-2008 08:35 AM Cooler Today
Took the day off, playing with mud.

Got my 12 dollar tail lights on, and fiberglassed around the tool box/glove compartment.

Ran out of resin and had to use kitty hair to fill a hole in the floorboard. Put glass mat in it, might work. It is probably overkill, it was more of a slit that Jason put in there to help clear the transmission.

Next step, paint it black. I got a good deal on some bed liner paint, i wanted gray, but what they had was black

06-08-2008 06:15 PM Fire Wall
Picked up the front of the body, and cut the firewall to match the transmission hump. Then welded it.

I might do it again to fill some gaps or fill them from the top. Still hot, almost 100 F

06-07-2008 06:17 PM Floor Board Rough In
Got the floor boards welded in on the Left side, Right has been done for a long time. Put in a brace. That's picture #1

Second picture. Look at how good the Nissan transmission hump fits old Henry's sheet metal.

Picture #3 i screwed the transmission hump down temporarily. I'll bash it and weld it later. Even found a shifter boot to fit.

And stuck in a seat to see if it sits good. Good enough. Can't even tell you how many trucks that cheap JC Witless seat has been in.

Now to jack up the body, cut the firewall to fit the hump, and weld away. I need to fabricate only two little pieces of floorboard right at the front.

Then body mounts.

It is awful hot today, so i couldn't work as much as i wanted..

05-29-2008 07:10 PM Work Day
Half a day anyway. Bud came down to run errands, so i hooked him into cleaning up the wiring on the Rat 47. Fired right up, no problems, except there is a leak under the thermostat. Even charges.

I got the windshield wipers in the Ratster, and welded on these bumper guards. Even put on a battery box. We still can't get it to charge, third alternator on it. I will buy a whole new wiring harness and try that. It has nothing on there now, just a few bits here and there.

Somebody came over to look at the Rat 47, and told me a proverb, "Chrome won't get you home."

That expresses the NC attitude pretty well.
