12-20-2007 01:43 PM Small Joy, but Some
Might have to drive the Frankenwagen to a party New Years, so i took the afternoon off and messed with it.

First, had to change the oil, so i put in a quart of Engine Flush and ran it for ten minutes, then changed the oil. When the flush was in there, the tappet didn't click or clack at all. Replaced the oil, and a can of Marvel Mystery Oil for luck.. Seems better, if not perfect.

Put on the fan spacer, to solve the over heating problem. We had changed the fan a few times and the spacer got left off.

And put the side mirror on again, and tried to tighten the parking brake cable.

No biggie, but helpful.

12-09-2007 02:48 PM Grill Shell
Took the front of the old hood, and what part of the grill i could hack off of the old school bus.. I took chunks of the hood to put sides on the grill. Welded and less bondo than i would have thought.

We can generously call that a skim coat.

Two more sub projects to go.. Firewall and hood, some in the cockpit Fiberglass and primer.

Then see if anybody else likes it.. I need to get on the 47 Ford.

12-01-2007 01:46 PM Slicing and Bashing
Trying to make a grill shell out of the old hood and grill. Got half of it screwed together, ready to weld and grind and bash some more.. Pretty ugly..

The old hood brace made a good bottom for the grill, and it's channel, so it stiffened it up a lot.. That's Darryl in the background.

I might made a partial hood out of the Mercedes hood, but this idea makes the firewall reconstruction a lot easier.

And the bumper will get cut down and go in the front, the bumper guards will make nerf bars for the back

12-01-2007 01:41 PM Doodle Bug
Darryl came over to look at the wheels he sold me.. So i put him to work. We stood around and tried to figure out what this mess should be called, Dune Buggy or Swamp Thing.. Back to Doodle bug.

Looks meaner, but i don't dare say it has "stance" yet. If ever..

11-29-2007 12:28 PM New Plan
Went back and cut out the grill from the I-H school bus.. I will not go for the full hood, just make a grill shell out of these pieces, and spend the extra money on a chrome valve cover and fancy air cleaner..

Also scored these huge tires from the used tire store, had to get all four but they are cheap enough, make this thing look a little sillier..
