11-01-2007 04:46 PM Runs
Figured out the not running problem, had the ignition wire on the wrong terminal. I was lead astray by evil companions.

Made a bracket and got the throttle cable hooked on, even made room for a choke.

Now if i can get the clutch linkage working, i will have a drivable, in a limited way, vehicle. Well, good enough to putt around the yard with.

Need a throttle cable.. And of course i have to reroute and mount all these wires and things. Found the gravel strainer, and started hooking up the rear brakes.

But have gas to the carb, ignition switch, starter switch, fuel filter and gas line nailed down.

And i have to find somebody that will tell me how to hook up a voltage regulator.

I guess i need "Wires For Dumb-butts"

Blanked off the heater hose holes, and mounted the starter solenoid. Need a short battery cable. Also hooked up the gas tank temporarily with rubber, but didn't get gas yet.

Decided to use the short hood in the front, it fits the Mercedes grill a lot better, and it will be good practice bending square tubing to make it fit. Might have to put on a bumper of some kind to make it look unified, there is a chuk of 47 Ford bumper left over...

As soon as i get the starter hooked up, i'll start slapping the body on this. I was going to use bed liner inside the cockpit, but i think i'll go with a textured paint instead. Bed liner is $60.00 a gallon, and looks like a real mess to use. And i am the word's sloppiest painter.

Who knows, i might even register this thing for a few weeks, if i get it done. It might be fun to drive.

I also want to go get a length of exhaust pipe and put a straight pipe on it to keep the racket down to a roar while i work on it. Got a tubing bender, after all.

10-28-2007 11:43 AM Double Yay!
Hooked up some brake lines, and wonder of wonders have brakes on the front wheels.. No telling how good they work, but they pump up after years and years of being unhooked and open to the weather.

Also bolted this tool box over a hole that Jason cut for no discernible reason...I'll glass it in later. It fit almost perfectly. And i got the shifter covered up with the old Nissan shift boot.

Put some switches in, not wired up yet..

So, if i get a throttle cable and a hand brake, the controls will be done. The rear brakes need a few hoses, and rebuilding, of course.

And i have to figure out a voltage regulator/charging system.
