Not too much work today, had to buy a lot of tools and wood.. Planer and belt sander went out...

While i was at it bought the cheapest die grinder from Graingers and tried to get the rim for the metal guitar down cleaner. Actually worked, somewhat.

Also took the body grinder to the other side of the Hillbilly Hummer, and found....surprise....Bondo...I get a story that the previous owner used this truck to practice learning how to do bondo on... Well that makes twice... I will get a new set of fenders, if i ever get this thing up to snuff mechanically... Right now it would be gilding the horse apple.

09-02-2007 04:34 PM Work Day
Holidays are for extra work, right?

Patching my way right around the Frankenwagen. This little rust spot in the hood turned out to be structural, the hood support was gone. Stuck in a piece of scrap iron and welded him.

Welded on the "Good Luck Trophy" i won (?) at a car show this spring, and finished up this side of the body. Other side is better, all the way up to hideous.

Note; Camera angle carefully selected to hide huge body gaps. I might get new fenders some day, but i need a transmission a lot more.. Engine block did not get done this week, surprise.

08-31-2007 02:06 PM I Cantilever it Worked

Wife person was mad at me taking up her turn around spot with the ugly truck, so i removed the corner post, cantilevered the roof, and now have room to get most of a car out of the sun. Can't believe it took me three years to figure this out..

And bought this ring bender from HF, for use in making the steel guitars.. I need to make the ring that mounts the Dobro cone nice and round. It might come in handy on cars too..

As you see.. Also had John come over and make another hatch into the new shop attic, and we moved all the 36 Ford parts up there, so as to clear the decks for the Rat Rod parts in the tool shed...

Where are the tools? Don't ask.

But it looks like the six 250 will fit in the rat rod without too much surgery, and the radiator and grill will also fit. Got a new starter for the Bondo Bucket, and when last seen, Jason was bolting it on.

08-27-2007 01:00 PM Aiiiiieeeee!!!!!
John the neighbor who mows the lawn threw up a stick with the mower, and broke the right side window in the Purplething. 178.00 bucks later, i will have a new one.. Also i decided to get a 77 R-4 trans for the Frankenwagen, so i will have overdrive. That way i won't have to change out the rear axle for a while. If i put in an S-10 axle, that will mean five bolt wheels, and so i would have to change the front end too.. $400.00 job versus a $1,000.00 job.

And the old hammered powerglide leaks like a sieve and won't go into neutral at idle. Too much money business...

And Jason got the 300 in the bondo bucket to fire, no big issues evident, but the starter is wore out.

And i think i well just give up and buy a new windshield for the BB
