Too hot to weld, been 100 or nearly for a week. You know that, right?

Anyway, somebody came and bought the fenders and pickup bed sides and some other stuff from the 35 Ford.. So i got the cab and hood, two grills and some hardware for under $ 400.00.. Or one bass unit.

So we will count this as a good week, so far.

Jason is still picking away on the bondo bucket.. I read that the old timers used a Model T rear axle housing as an exhaust header cone, and i have one. So...

Jason got the radiator hooked up and spun the engine with the starter.. also bashed away at the floor pan to clear the shifter linkage.

Would have got more done but some mystery agent had filled up the radiator with sunflower seed hulls. Always something.

The Lincoln and this old Subaru i got last year are gone to the big junkyard in the sky. My neighbor Darryl vanished them..

Have to go a try and sell books at a fiddle fest tomorrow, but will try to weld a little Sunday..

Went out to J.H's genuine hot rod shop, and bought a 302 reworked block, a complete engine that supposedly has a bad head, and an automatic transmission. All for $300.00. He was glad to get rid of them, i suppose.

Ogled the 41 Buick and the gennie Mustang fastback, loaded all that stuff up and headed home. Lots of weight and 604 c.i. in the back of the poor little Toyota.

But he hadn't drained the oil and it splashed all over the Purple Thing's bed.. Wood preservative, i calls it. Good thing i decided to not paint the PT. Oil everywhere.

Jason thinks we can get the Falcon finally running and out of our hair with this load. So now i have a 170 automatic and some engine parts for sale. And a bunch of stuff to try and store until the real hot rod, the 36 pickup is ready to build.

And Jason got the radiator mounted in the bondo bucket.

Got the rear body mounts in and Jason is starting to lay out the radiator mounts. Trimmed the old mounts off and cut some angle iron.

And he got the plasma torch working.. I just didn't know how to hold my mouth.

Got a bunch of junk from Junior's, some van running boards to put on the Hillbilly Hummer, a ladder so i can make a roof rack to hide the big dip i built into it, and a swivel seat. The Mazda seat i had in there is too low, it sits cool, but i can't reach the ATM machine or the mailbox. So i got this captain's chair out of an old van. It's too high, but i can cut the base down.

Then i can swivel it and sit in it when camping.

And Jason is starting to get the engine in the bondo bucket together. Fan on, opened the thermostat to look at the water passages. Engine turns over, water passages look ok... here's hoping.

He is figuring out where to run the wires, gauges and controls.
