I guess this is the official start of the rebuild. Got the motor clear in the Nissan, except for the wiring harness, and will jack it up and pull the engine this week, i hope.. I'd like to rebuild the engine, but it might be too much for me at this point.
And got the windshield out of the '47, and POR-15'ed the cowl. It's not quite as bad as i feared, only about six inches of the windshield frame is rotted away. All the people who saw it said it was hopeless, so i don't have much to lose bashing it back together, do i?
Got the heater, parking brake, cowl vent, a few other things out.. Trying to remove instrument cluster, got the inside windshield trim out, and a few other things. Next trick, cover over this great big hole... I would like to keep the cowl vent, but there is nothing there. And no patch parts i can find..
Finally a good day.. Spent the afternoon out in the sun hacking and burning the easier parts off the Nissan. Shame the engine has such a bad knock, it starts right up every time. I might try to rebuild this and use it in the C Cab instead of the BMW.
And the second sculpture is done... Mr. Earrie. Still don't have a shift knob... Better try again...
Put the fork lift truck wheels on the cherry picker, figured out a way to get them on more or less straight. Ought to work at speeds of less than 80.
Changed the oil on the Nissan and didn't find any metal shavings in the oil. Thew in a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil and said a short prayer.. Jason is supposed to come over and put on an exhaust manifold. Maybe that's the problem. Now if we don't break a manifold stud...
Played with the welder, deposited metal with the MIG and ground it down... I always wanted a 3-D pencil. I will go get some smaller grinding stones and play more with this... Gearshift knob city.
And got the radio for the Purple things, and will try to get some wiring details done in the cab and dash..
