This is the inside of the Frankenwagen. I actually built this monster to haul musical instruments to festivals and craft shows. Inside here are two Hawaiian Guitars, an electric, and upright bass, a flattop guitar and Harp Guitar and a fretless bass... Also a table, chair, books, an amp, guitar stands and so on...

Hope it makes it there and back

Later. Made it, first trip after dark, tail lights and dash lights went out, headlights aimed wrong. But it ran fine. Heater works. I need to put indicator lights above turn signals, i think that will be easier than figuring out what light to hook up under dash...

I might take it camping for New Years Eve Party to sell my new book, if it's out by then..

First the rear springs.

11-25-2006 02:31 PM Actual Hot Rod Work.
Assuming this turns out to be an actual hot rod. I looked up at the cowl from the bottom, and it looks like lace, so much light comes through.

But, got the body off and the frame rolled away. Also got the seat firmly in the Purple thing.. It's in the wrong place, but it's firm.

Pix;

1) This is where i want the body to sit.. That will put the radiator in back of the front axle. But lower, natch.

2) John came over and painted some more.. got to love it.. Left over purple from the Doodle bug

3) Body on blocks awaiting a glorious rein-car-nation..

Also got a screw in the hogged out hole in the turn signal, and tried to fix the horn again.. Still won't work, i'm going to give up and just put a button on the dash..

Later, Tuesday, took the Frankenwagen out for a test drive, and ran some errands. Worked OK, considering.. It is leaking out of the Tranny filler tube, and the speedometer reads way low... But the artist types in the Arts Districts thought it was outrageous, and the old Hotrodder at Sam's Club showed me how the rear springs had been torched, obvious once you know what you're looking at, so a new set of springs should fix that problem... Of course then the rear end will be higher than a mad cat's behind, but whatever...

John came over on a cold, nasty day, and painted some on the front of the cab.. That will use up the rest of the hideous green. He has lots of ideas for graphics on this creature.

No sense in trying to make this good looking, might as well punk it out.. I got some 6 volt "eyeball" lights left over from Halloween for $4.00. Maybe they will work on 12 volts..

11-17-2006 11:14 AM Bye Bye Nice Opel
They finally came and got this beast, off to Pennsylvania. I only lost $150.00. A bargain. Now i have to find another motor and running gear for the Model T Speedster..

As for real progress, not much. Jason is pulling the Falcon Engine to have it rebuilt, and i got the speakers in the Frankenwagen. And if i sell one more bass, i will have enough for the Falcon Donor i need..

11-13-2006 03:11 PM Fun At Jason's
Went over to Jason's and Harold was there, loading up the steel parts of the Kurbmaster. That's pictures #1 and #2.

They tore the steel off the aluminum with the tractor.

#3 is the cut down Kurbmaster frame welded to the forks and motor, a Continental Four, of the old Fork lift.. Add two transmissions and some hydraulic lines, and viola, a heavy duty forklift..

You can see the remains of the aluminum body in the background

I scored some old. very nice Naugahyde seats for the roadster, or even the Falcon. Very nice, and you know, them nauga's are almost extinct.
