I guess Patina is what you get on the West, or Desert Coast. This here NC patina, as you see, is about a quarter inch deep. Some places you can stick your finger right through it.
The guy who found this heap for me was over to kibitz and kept talking about the Patina, which you can hear falling off and rattling down every time you close the door.
I offered to scrape off a zip lock full of Patina that he could take home, if he wanted it so bad, but he declined my kind offer.
I don't have much worries about ruining this truck... I think it's runt already..
And all i got done today was to load up 700 pounds of ex-chevie, ford, falcon and toyota on the back of the doodle bug and take it to the recyclers .. got $7.02 for it...Better deal than taking it to the dump and paying $10.00 to dump it..
Cleaned out the cab, removed cattle guard, bumper and whatever they call the thing in front of the radiator.
Floor is pretty far gone on driver's side, one cab corner gone, bottom of both doors. All in all, in better shape than the 63 Chevy truck, Project #1, and way better than the Hippie Wagon... I think it is is better shape now than the Hippie Wagon is after all the work i have done on it so far..
Also took off the stake bed frame... It's not totally wasted, anybody want it, email@example.com otherwise i will chop it up for the steel.
It must be my birthright to make stuff uglier. Anyway, this is that last of the body work on this monster until i start on the doors and fenders, which will be a while... This ought to keep the big pieces from falling off on the road. I'm going to do the doors with metal, i've done enough bondo for a lifetime...
The big question is; Tye Dye, Purple Cammo, or just invite all the old hippies over for a paint and pizza party. Probably the latter.
Now to finish the interior and the wiring...
If you see Jay Leno, tell him i probably won't make it to Pebble Beach this year.
