Bought a 350 trans for the roadster 200.00, and put a down payment on the Falcon engine and tranny. Supposed to be in my hands saturday or sunday...
Went to look at a 41 ford and 50 ford pickup, and a model A...That was funny... the 41 and the 50 are rust-colored air, and the guy wants 1,500.00 for the pair... I guess the cab and hood on the 50 are ok, the rest is rust.. you can look inside and there is just ground inside.. I dont want to pay that much for two worn out flatties, but if you do, let me know. The old guy needs some cash for sure..
The Model A is a joke... The guy said it was "Creased"... but a big tree fell on it, and the roof is below the window sills. The bottom of the body is gone for six or eight inches and the rest is pretty thin. He wants a grand for that...
I bought two wheels for the 66 and a beer keg for a gas tank for 20.00 and ran like a dog.. arf, arf.
Project #3 Got the old steering column out of the 66 Chevy, and reassebled the front brake, broke a brake line, so i'll have to go get the tools for that.. I need to get this thing on the road, no matter, and then change out the master cylinder and add the power brakes later. If you have a $1,000.00 car for your main wheels you need two, so you wont get stranded.. But i think this is as far as the teardown goes, outside of loosing the front bumper. From now on in its rebuild time.
Project #4, The Roadster.. Still bondoing and grinding.. Talked to ol' Bud (two months younger than me) who used to make fiberglass boats. He thinks it should work, and told me to use matt on the sharp corners... So i can see the end of the work on the bucket part of the body, and have to start thinking about making the hood fit the cowl.
Project #5 Time for Cubic money.. The guy with the Falcon took my bid for the engine and tranny and radiator, so off we go to pay him... The money from the green chevy will cover two projects, and there is a rumor of some real iron...later.
Got paid for Project #1, and made a whole $55.00, not counting labor.. But the parts are paid for and i wound up with a 250 and a crash box tranny.. Somebody bought the treardrop, but i haven gotten paid for that yet..
Here is a picture of the hole in the floor of the 66 truck. Dude needed a sharper hammer... It was patched with aluminum flashing and caulking..
