12-20-2006 07:32 PM Home made tranny pan
I originally installed a 700R4 in it ,but its giving nothing but grief with slip shifts and poor performance. I just pulled it out about a month ago and rebuilt a 350 for it.
Of course the cheap metal pan is leaking fluid and up here in Canada an aluminum one cost about $200 bucks,I figured I would just make one. I picked up some 3/8" x 1" cold rolled flat bar for the frame and fabbed it up yesterday.

12-20-2006 07:39 PM Adding the tray
So I went to work and made up a nice deep 3-1/2" tray to weld to the top frame out of 14 ga. satin coat steel. I cross kinked the bottom and punched a pilot hole for where I will weld the drain plug nut.

12-20-2006 07:47 PM Oh Brother!
So I welded the tray to the frame with stainless tig rod and man what a mess. I don't mean my crooked messy welds,I'm referring to the fact that the whole thing warped like crazy.I spent about 2 hours knocking and grinding 3 sides. I have to drag a straight edge over each rim and grind down every scratch mark created by the dragging and repeat and repeat ........
I used a green marker on the rim to see better what I'm doing.
