07-24-2011 09:53 AM TRUNK LID REPAIRS
I went to Dutch Comstock's metalshaping meet and needed a project while I was there so I took my deck lid with me.

I thought I would take the the lid apart to repair some dents I made with an exhaust manifold from about seven feet up.

I found a full skim coat across it and several rust holes thru the skin and the inner panel.

I started with a new lower patch across the bottom.

06-23-2011 05:37 PM GRILL RING WELDED
I got the trim ring welded and smoothed up.

Needs a bunch more tapping around but I'm sure I'll be able to get it right.

06-12-2011 06:01 PM GRILL MOCK UP

I painted a split grill similar to a 1940 Willys on the front and figured I would go with it as I'm basically using all the parts of cars that I like on this build.

I made up a trim angle for the front, cut out the hole and tacked it in place.
This will help hold the messed up metal from constantly changing shape on me as I try to work it.

06-12-2011 05:53 PM BACK TO SHEET METAL WORK

I went to work on the front clip again as I will need to figure out the rad, rad support, and body mounts for the front.

Got a little surprise when I was checking the shape from side to side.

1st pic is on the passenger side.

2nd pic is on the driver side the same distance from center.

After a bunch of beating, the shape came out but the whole driver's side metal is a mess.

05-04-2011 06:41 PM EXHAUST DONE (almost)

I got the exhaust pretty much complete except for welding the primaries to the flanges and the O2 bungs.

I'm leaving the flange welding for later........... just in case....
