03-15-2010 10:55 AM Ball Joint Holders
Don't know if that's a good name for them but I definitely need to make up something to get the control arms attached.

Pic 1: Two pieces roughed out and tacked together. In the background are two pieces that I started with. 1/2" x 2-1/2" hot rolled flat bar bent to shape.

Pic 2: Pieces taken apart and chamfered ready to weld.

Pic 3: Welded and cleaned up.

03-11-2010 10:46 AM Frame Construction

Gonna start work on the frame soon so I have somewhere to bolt up the inner fenders and rad support that I need to hold up the sheet metal I've been making.

First glitch is ordering spindles that don't use balljoints. I ordered a complete 04 Cobra IRS from MPS Auto Salvage and had the guy throw in some spindles, hubs, calipers and rotors from the same car.

I realized a couple days later that it was possible that the Cobra used MacPherson struts.
With my luck, of course it did.....

I got all the panels tacked up over the weekend.
I think its looking pretty good.
A long way to go , but I'm confident I'll get there one year.......

02-14-2010 03:37 AM Fender Cutting
Got the front panel tacked in place and then I scribed and cut off the remaining buck from the passenger side fender.

First pic shows Mark lfting off the freshly cut chunk.
Second pic shows the gaping hole in the fender.
Third pic shows the panel started to tack in place.
Seems to fit OK thus far....more later.

02-12-2010 06:11 PM Finally tacking up the front.........

I finally got the front piece started to tack in place.
Its not in perfect shape so I'll have to "adjust" it after I get it tacked up.
Hopefully it will hold its shape better afterwards.
