Tacking panel into place. I had to twist and pull it around to tack it up and amazingly it fit quite well. I just had to trim about 3/16"to 1/16" at the bottom to make it fit.

Pic 1 : I cut off the "buck" which I used to make the pattern.

Pic 2 shows the first tack.

Pic 3 shows the panel all over the place.

09-28-2008 04:40 PM Pattern
First pic is of the flexible tape pattern I used. Its made of a layer of painter's tape covered with thread reinforced packing tape.
I trimmed the pattern down to size to just clear all the mess that was under the bondo.
I then transferred the pattern shape to the patch panel and trimmed it to size.

Pic 2 shows the trimmed patch panel with my other headlight template tacked to it.

Pic 3 shows the rough cut about 1/4" in from the line of the pattern. In metal shaping they say to trust the pattern so I did.

09-27-2008 06:09 PM Great Metal Shaping Day!
As mentioned on my previous entry, I went out of town to Ken's place from MetalMeet.com today and had a great time.

With some good instruction from Ken and Darryl on the stump, beater bag and E wheel, I managed to get my panel very close to the shape of my tape pattern.
