08-13-2011 02:49 PM INNER DECK LID
There was damage along the bottom of the inner trunk lid so I made up some patches and tacked them in place.

08-07-2011 08:50 AM TRUNK SKIN DONE
I got the deck lid skin pretty much complete.

I have to hit the inside with some SPI epoxy primer before final assembly.

07-29-2011 04:04 PM GETTING THERE......SLOWLY.....

I started metal finishing the repair area.

I'd like to get it smooth enough to not need bondo but I don't think that will happen.

The first pic shows the blue layout die I used as a guide coat. Its really rough from welding and all the additional stretching I had to do because the panels were not made just right.

The last two pics are after a bunch of hours working with the slapper and dolly.

07-27-2011 04:10 AM MORE TRUNK LID

I had to fill all the holes from the old hardware and the lid had pinholes in it so I made up another patch panel to do it all in one shot.

07-24-2011 09:53 AM TRUNK LID REPAIRS
I went to Dutch Comstock's metalshaping meet and needed a project while I was there so I took my deck lid with me.

I thought I would take the the lid apart to repair some dents I made with an exhaust manifold from about seven feet up.

I found a full skim coat across it and several rust holes thru the skin and the inner panel.

I started with a new lower patch across the bottom.
