Time to fit the floor in the car. We made templates from cardboard and used wood to keep it straight.

I fabricated the post to mount the bear claw latches for both doors. Now both doors open and latch closed. I also mounted the rocker panels which on this car are a separate piece from the cowl and the rear section.

Finally got the doors bolted on to the cowl. I still need to adjust the gap with a spacer but the doors open and close. Next step is to replace the wood at the back of the doors and change the latches to bear claw.

01-05-2009 06:16 PM 1933 Chevy Cabriolet Wood Replacement
Over the holidays I did more work on the wood replacement in the cowl. Picture 1 shows the steel replacement next to the 75 year old wood. In picture 2, I was fitting the dash to make sure I had the right width. In picture 3 my daughter and I fit the assembly into the cowl. It still needs a couple of tweaks but not bad for the first try. Next I'll have to attach them at the base to the rectangular tubing that replaced the sills.

Once all the holes were filled, I ground it carefully not to warp the metal. Then I put some primer on it to protect it. The holes for the cowl tag and radiator supports were left unfilled.
