Friday I spent probably too many hours on the seat mounts. I can't get myself to just slap things together. Fabricated seat mounts using 1x1-1/2x1/8 square tubing with 1/4inch plate tabs for bolting the mounts to the frame bolts. I felt it important to have a secure seat mounting point into the frame. Not that this car offers a lot of driver protection! High strength 1/2 inch bolts are used to secure the seat mounts. The inner seat mounts required a rear pedestal to use the stock seat frame bolts.

Tomorrow the seats get bolted down. That is once I determine how to modify the mounts and secure them. Lokar shifter got finalized. "CAUTION" on the Ford C4 trans. you have to cut the old shift arm off in order to install the Lokar arm. Do it before you get the trans in. My shifter was forever getting delivered. Now that my trans is installed I had little or no room to cut the arm off. The 34 frame, brake booster etc swallows all available space. Jacked the car up onto stands and somehow got my air cut off into position to cut partly through. Part from the top, part from the bottom, different size wheels.Like doing brain surgery in the dark.. know you are going to screw something up. Some how I got it done without causing added pain to the wallet.

Before I installed the last panel I had spent the better part of the day removing and treating rust inside the rear wheel wells. Painted the inside panels with POR-15 then sprayed with self etching paint after curing. Made a stinking mess at this stage..knocked a quart of POR-15 over onto the floor. What a mess. Retrieved most of the spill but ...read the can.. don't get this on your hands. What a "Bear" to get this off!
Rolled the panel by bumping the flat panel in the brake. A wood mallet took most of the over roll out. Miss my power roll!

Pulled the old rear panel drop off from under the trunk area. Lots of holes from previous owners, rust(no surprise here) and much too much plastic! More bead blasting parts before I can finalize the rear panel installation. Dropped the bodyto the frame in order to get the remaining floor roughed in. Made another cardboard pattern and transfered it to the 18 gauge panel. I had some unexpected help beading the last panel..much too large to handle by myself. Recruited my "better half "for some technical advise and assistance. Got to work on those garage clothes though..too much class for my operation.

Lifted the rear of the body from the frame in order to get the new, freshly painted gas tank on the frame. Took some doing as I had to lift the body by myself and block it up. Set the tank and had to redrill/ream the frame mounting holes to get the correct fit. Proceeded to drop the freshly painted tank, not once but twice. Crap..its getting late in the game..I'll have to touch it up another time!
