05-26-2012 08:34 PM 1930u back on the body
I spent most of the day on Friday sanding down primer and filler. For the most part I worked the entire body down to 80-100 grit and a few places like the rear fenders and valance panel are finished to 220 grit. After that I sprayed on a couple of thin coats of PPG epoxy black satin primer just to seal everything down. The satin black primer brought out all the dents and dings that I missed along the way. All in all itís not to bad and with a little bumping the dents will be gone.

05-20-2012 07:40 PM 1930u weekend progress
Due to graduation parties, I didnít get much done on Saturday but today I did work on the old coupe. I spent a lot of time re-adjusting the body on the frame mounts. This is critical because if itís off a bit the door gaps are a mess.

I also discovered after I reset the engine rake the top of the trans was way to close to the floor pan, so I made a mini trans tunnel and did a little more bending on the shifter. All in all Iím finally happy with the trans and body profile.

05-17-2012 08:21 PM 1930u Rolled it outside
I had to clean the shop so I rolled the coupe outside tonight for a walk around look at the headers. The header work was difficult but I'm glad I went with the stainless steel.

05-15-2012 08:01 PM 1930u Steering work complete
Back in the fall I bought my steering hardware. I found a great deal on a couple of Unisteer (made in Ohio), polished stainless U-joints, a D-shaft and a Flaming River, support bearing. I got everything for $100. The U-joints are huge and are re-build able. I had previously laid out the column opening in the firewall and steering shaft angle, so I knew going in that the components would work fine.

Finished everything up tonight and it worked out great.
