11-13-2010 07:10 PM More chassis work

I'm anxious to finish the chassis but today I had to cut my work short. Fortunately I did find some rear shocks that matched the specs. of the old Andeck shocks that were installed back in the 70's. The application is for 60's VW. Andeck was a company that made the dune buggy conversions all those years ago. Since I didn't have much time today I started polishing the back side of the rear wheels and made sure the shocks were going to work. Tomorrow it will be a rolling chassis for sure.

11-07-2010 04:43 PM 1930u- Final steering work done
Today I finished up the steering. The chassis components any way. The Vega steering box tucks nicely under the engine mounting bracket. I plan to use over and outside the frame rail headers with side pipes. I think this will ease the steering shaft installation when the body goes back on. I still can't find any rear shocks to match the old Andeck units from back in the day. Will look for shocks this week.

11-04-2010 08:52 PM 1930u- 392 Hemi and chassis mock up
Before I did the body and chassis work I threw the engine shell together in order to mock up the engine mount location. I only have a few minor items left to do on the chassis and will begin the engine work soon.

11-04-2010 08:05 PM 1930u-392 cubic inch boat anchor
Since I'll soon be assembling the 392 Hemi, Here's a precursor to the build. The engine was in bad shape. Real bad shape. Much like the old 30u Plymouth body it was destroyed. It took days to get it apart. If there was a high point...it was the fact that these old engines were cast well, they're heavy and tough. Thanks to today's technology I was able to save the block and the heads. As bad as it all looked the crank and rods were perfect. The crank was almost perfectly balanced from the factory. The weight of a dollar bill made it perfect.

The heads are all done and bagged ready to go on. The block is hanging on the stand waiting for the crank.

10-31-2010 03:05 PM 1930U- 57-64 Olds/Pontiac rear-end (It's
The rear-end is now complete. Now if I can find some shocks I will install it. Other than shocks the only other item to install is the Vega steering box and cross arm. After that stay tuned the blown Hemi and super T-10 are next on the build and install list.

Ps. I'm also going to polish out the back side of the wheels but I flat ran out of steam today.
