08-05-2013 07:43 PM 1930u- Electrical relay and power panel
Tonight I started wiring the relays for the water pump, cooling fan and fuel pump. God bless my late father-in-law, Marvin. He left me a life time supply of connectors and terminal ends. Literally a tackle box full of anything and everything you can imagine. It's all quality stuff from the 50's through the 70's.

The red terminal strip on the left is keyed hot an the one towards the middle of the panel is battery hot.

08-04-2013 07:29 PM 1930u- Electrical relay and power panel
Made a panel today for mounting all the relays and 3 terminal blocks. The black block hosts all the grounds and the red ones are keyed hot and battery hot. The master (common) ground stud goes all the way through the firewall to the bell housing.

I found the cool terminal blocks yesterday at the Nations in Louisville. It was great time! I hope to be there next year.

08-04-2013 06:54 PM 1930u- Common ground post
Been away from the 30 for awhile but back at it today. Rolled the coupe out into the driveway and started working on the wiring again. I found a blank hole at the top of the bell housing that I will use as a common ground junction point. I attached a heavy gauge ground strap with a long 3/8” copper bolt to serve as a junction post. Before I bolted it to the stud I clamped the strap up in a vise and really put the squeeze on the attachment lugs.

Then I installed a junction post passing it through the firewall to serve as the common ground point. I picked a spot under the dash, to locate where the 5/16 post will attach to a aluminum electrical panel and tightened a nut on it. I will put all the grounds on there. The ground from the battery will also attach to same point at the bell housing.

07-16-2013 08:51 PM 1930u A/C Controls and Tach
The dash continues to evolve. Here’s a couple shots of the A/C controls and the dash mounted tach…I love the tach. Keep in mind this is a late 60’s - 70’s theme build otherwise I would have molded in and made all components integral in the dash.

Today I made another list of general items that I need to finish the car…dimmer switch, indicator lamps for turn signals, battery box and I haven’t decided on the type of wire loom I will use just yet. I know in the mid 70’s auto makers started putting the wiring harnesses into the black corrugated plastic loom… I remember seeing it used on few hot rod builds.

I also tested all the wiring I’ve run so far to verify continuity from point to point. So far so good. Got to walk away from this thing for a week or two but she will run in August!
