08-31-2013 08:14 PM 1930u- Carburetor day
I continue to work towards starting this thing, Right now it's been check, check and recheck everything. Today I pulled the 750 Edelbrock's and stuck them on the 409 to make sure there were no issues with the carbs. I bought them on the cheap and just did a rebuild on them. I'm going to try them as is with stock Edelbrock specs. They were way to fat for the 409 but sure did make the old 409 go sideways.

I also filled the blower with oil and spun it by hand to get some lube on the gears before I break the engine in. The one thing I really don't like with the Weiand Blower Kit is the T-stat housing. Just looks awkward and the top rad hose just doesn't do it for me. It will work to get it up and running but you can bet I will change to something else later on.

08-26-2013 07:41 PM 1930u- Gas Tank Sending Unit
I tend to be a bit anal about getting things done right the first time. Here's how I calibrated the fuel gauge. Of course I forgot about the baffle in the tank so I had to do it twice to make sure the float was free when I installed the sender unit. I also had a problem with the bolt flange. The tank bolt pattern did not match the sending unit. I opened up a couple of the bolt holes and all is fine now. The last thing I did before re-installing the tank was wire it up and turn the tank upside to make sure the float moved freely without obstruction. I also set it to make sure I had a little gas left when empty and set the full point to make sure I had some free board in the tank for expansion.

08-26-2013 07:08 PM 1930u the last week or so
Lots of progress over the last week or so but its all been tedious neat nick kind of stuff and hard to photograph. One item I will mention is the clutch safety switch. I made a bracket and installed it with the brake light switch. Also did the rest of the wiring. Spent a lot of time trying to organize and route wires. Here's a few shots. I will have to say its really getting tight under and behind the dash.

08-13-2013 09:46 PM 1930u- Turn signal switch
I wanted to install the turn signal switch over the weekend but I misplaced the one I bought and never did find it. Then I started thinking about just using a toggle switch but after thinking about it more, I bought another universal switch and installed it tonight. I really don't like the way universal switches look but I installed it behind my column drop and it really looks cool. I also juiced up the the whole electrical system by attaching my battery charger to the cable leads. I set it on 5 amps and tested everything I've wired to date. I have some old trailer lights that I used to test the turn signals and brake lights and all worked perfectly.
