05-04-2014 07:33 PM 1930u back at it
I've started back to work on the old Plymouth. When I went out to the shop yesterday the first thing I noticed was the gas pedal laying on the floor board. Over the winter it just fell off. The weld let loose on the pivot bracket. It is virtually impossible to find parts made in the states. After about 30 minutes worth of work and a couple of spots welds I have it back together. Definitely an item I will redo after I get the car on the road. The best part was after 7-months the old Hemi fired right up.

Here's a couple pics of the piece a crap gas pedal.

01-25-2014 07:06 PM 1930u I will update soon
The 392 is running but over the last few months I have backed off a bit on the project. Many other things to do around the house and at work. I also did a little traveling and back in the fall I just drove the heck out of the old 69. I will be getting back at Plymouth soon.

10-14-2013 06:50 PM 1930u More tuning today
The old 392 Hemi is really coming around. I spent the day playing with the carbs and fixed a few small coolant leaks. The Edelbrock 750's currently have the stock set up inside but I changed to a lighter set of step up springs for the metering rods. This took care of a slight bit of blower surge at idle. she idles at 1000 RPM. The timing is set at 12 degrees initial with a total curve locked out at 32 degrees. All in by 1800 RPM. If I increase the boost later on I will probably have to take the total advance back to less than 30 degrees. The electric water pump and cooling fan are perfect. When the fan is on at idle she runs about 170 but I need to change the fan temp switch lowering the turn on to about 160.

Thanks to the junk SPEEDWAY MOTORS brand new leaky hydraulic throw out bearing I have to pull the trans and replace it with a Howe unit. If I get the seat belts and windshield installed by this weekend I plan to go down the road in this thing.

09-19-2013 07:57 PM 1930u Calibrating the carbs
Now that the Hemi is running I'm going to calibrate the carbs. Big Al at Big Al's, Toy Box gave me some tips on running the Edelbrocks on a 6-71. So before I go out on the road I'm changing to his specs. I love the Carter (Edelbrock carbs) and have used them on my 409 and many, many Corvettes over the years.
