07-05-2013 09:10 PM 1930u Crankcase ventilation
Tonight I worked on my crankcase breathers. If you want to get sick to your stomach drill and saw holes in a set of chromed out 392 valve covers. OMG whatís wrong with me. Lol my intentions were to use finned aluminum covers but I have always loved the originals. I decided to use only two Moon Eyes breathers and stuck them on the end of the valve cover. For a street engine they should do just fine. I installed them upright so I can also use them as oil fillers. This will work much better than the oil inlet on the valley cover under the blower.

Sticking the breathers out on the end of the cover is something I picked up at the Don Garlits museum. Over the years he had set up a few like this and I loved the way they looked on the engines. If itís good enough for Don itís good enough for me.

06-30-2013 09:37 PM 1930u Wiring will begin soon
Today I took some time to inventory all the electrical components. I'm using a the USA made Haywire T universal harness. It looks like a nice product... it should work fine for my simple Hot Rod. I'm really wanting to get this thing going but I'm taking my time and thinking this all out. I only want to wire it once!

06-30-2013 09:22 PM 1930u Removed all the A/C lines and fittings
Today I removed all the A/C lines. Their all cut to length and the fittings are ready to be crimped. The lines are laying like snakes in the seat of my car. I will drop them off tomorrow at the NAPA store to be crimped.

06-30-2013 09:13 PM 1930u Oil pressure sender and safety switch
This weekend was a bust but I did get a few things done. Here's some shots of my oil pressure transducer switch and fuel pump safety switch. The safety unit controls the electric fuel pump. The pump will not run unless the engine has oil pressure.

06-26-2013 07:20 PM 1930u Started on the instrument panel
Tonight I took a few minutes and put the dash back in just to make sure the back of the gauges missed all the mechanical parts and a/c unit mounted behind the dash. All is well. I still haven't decided where I will mount the tach...definitely not on the column and I'm leaning towards the top of the dash. I figure since the blower scoop already limits the line of site a bit I'll put the tach on the dash behind the blower scoop and not restrict my vision to the right or left. I still have a lot of work to do!
