Had a healthy dose of Nova time getting the shifter squared away to run with the 700R4. I had to load up the back up and neutral safety switches, install the shifter cable and change out the gate plate for all four gears.
Had to do whip put some quick painting as B&M linkage comes in raw steel. Once dry I took a dive down under to the put cable linkage together, sort of - I got it all lined up and will do the final hook up once the carpet goes in.

As you know I was trying to figure out what to do with my shifter dilemma - stay with the B&M Hammer shifter and do a bunch of mods or go rouge with something new.
I deducted that the mods I have to do would only take up a bunch of time and I might still end up a so so match. So I ran thru three other B&M shifters that might work for me. I went with Magnum Grip Street Bandit Shifter model 81050 - okay that was a mouthful why don't they just call the Super Star?
Well when it got here at the house, it was a little like having a brand new girlfriend - all of a sudden I forgot all about the old one and began my infatuation with an all new obsession.
This thing is smoking hot and I can tell you the website doesn't do it justice. It is a slim design that will fit perfect - no mods, just plug and play!

Working diligently to put together a mounting plate for a center console area mounted fire extinguisher I ran into some excitement. But just like the old vintage Nova pulps plug " the Nova - so Exciting!" - hey no arguments here.
Picture the irony in all this... Kiss' self titled debut is rolling in the background, I've got the fire extinguisher mounting metal plate in the vise grinding at it while the shop vac is in the other hand catchin flying metal. As I'm maneuvering the grinder around I noticed a piece of steel wool on my work bench turning into an ember dance. I kinda got mesmerized by it for a moment as I watched the sucking action of the vacuum and increased oxygen supply fuel the embers into a frenzy. A cheap thrill...Then WHOOMP the fire ball got sucked up in the vacuum - at first my initial defense mechanisms jumped into play and I thought I need to get at that, but as my logic took over, the rationalization flooded over me and I realized that I had recently emptied the vac and there were just metal shavings and dirt inside - "whats the big deal?"- so I blew it off and kept grinding.
Then a new source of excitement kicked off as I it saw from the corner of my eye, smoke barreling out of the vacuum cleaner exhaust - I MEAN BARRELING! LIKE A COAL CHOMPING LOCOMOTIVE! My 'Oh *****' receptors went into overdrive and I grabbed the fire extinguisher that was readily at hand, pulled the pin and then my so called logic took over again. I grabbed the burning vacuum and ran out into the driveway and flipped the lid off to see the filter all ablaze - OH! In my brainy calculations I overlooked the filter as a potential flammable. This was funny at this point - the garage was full of and bellowing white smoke, I had an unused fire extinguisher in my hand that was the start of it all and with the vacuum and grinder off I can hear that Kiss was on the third song of their album, appropriately titled 'FIREHOUSE' -thats right, how's that for cosmos alignment. That whole thing had me belly laughing in the driveway like a gitty little boy. That was a funny joke! I wish someone was here to witness the freakish event as they would have wet their pants for sure. It was true comedy.
Anyhoo - here's the extinguisher pics .

I had new JBL speakers for this application along with some vintage grills left over from some speakers I was running in my CJ8 before I pushed them a little too far. I toyed around with the new grill vs. old grill combos and quickly went the classic look. The new ones just screamed 'look at me, look at me' drawing too much attention to themselves and besides I'm too old skool for all the flash.

Trying to get a lid on the interior, I had to run wires to the rear for the rear speaker and amp. I ran a cluster thru the channel that rides just under the Fisher Body door rails.
I then had to get my kick panel speakers in. I made a template from cardboard to work off before making cuts to my new replacement kick panels. I knew I'd have a touch of variance between the two sides and the cardboard made the adjustment easy on the flipped side.
Once cut, I put in the panels and screwed down the JBLs.
