09-20-2013 06:46 AM 126-22 Beautiful fall day...
An absolutely beautiful day for a car show and parade. This fall festival was about sixty miles away and offered not only a car show but one of my grandsons was marching with his school band in the parade. The car show went well with some entries I hadn't seen before and several friends to visit with. We also enjoyed some really good pulled pork followed by soft serve ice cream. The day wrapped up with a good drive home, no trouble, no problems. I rolled into my just finished new garage addition and made plans to get the hot rod out the next morning for yet another chance to show it and see other people's creations.

09-09-2013 11:48 AM 125-21 A Quicky
Didn't have anything going on Saturday evening so took a quick trip over a few miles to a cruise in. Hadn't been there before and was not real sure where I needed to go but found the park and the other cars. Looked around and enjoyed the late afternoon and even visited with a couple of bystanders but then got back on the road for an other drive in the hotrod. Any time spent driving my '46 is a good time.

09-07-2013 07:15 AM 124-20 Another Festival
This show is the second this weekend and the 20th so far this summer. The Popcorn Festival is in my home town and only a few blocks away. I got there early as the venue in the city park fills pretty quickly. The show like most supports a charity and is well managed by a club from nearby Indiana. There were 120 entries and enough awards to satisfy all plus free popcorn. The show drew in many fine machines and even my friend Bill was able to make it to the show in his project. We all made it there and home and enjoyed the festival day and festival food.

09-07-2013 07:06 AM 123-19 Festival season starts
This is a car show attached to an Amish community and celebrates cheese. My friend Fuzzy came south with some of his fellow ''Wheels'' car club members and we all headed west to register for the festival car show. There were about 80 entries on a fine day with shady parking along the town's streets. There were several good comments on my new ''Old Guys'' plaque and I passed them on to the charter members. I'm afraid to say so but the up and down heat issues must be solved as we stayed at 175* there and back. I hurried home to spend the evening with my son and his family and get ready for another festival show the next morning.

08-27-2013 09:15 AM 122-18 The Follies
The problem for me when driving to car show events in Indiana is that they have several time zones. It is roughly a two hour drive from my home in east central Illinois over and down to Evansville Indiana. I can never remember if the time there is central, so do I lose an hour or not for arrival time? Of course it doesn't really matter as long as we get there, but this time we were to meet up with friends who were going in to the show with us. At any rate we left at 5:00 am cdt and everything worked out. It was a great day and a great show as it always is. Thousands of pre '48 cars and trucks makes for a full day of walking and looking and trying to see as much of it all as possible. A popular pastime at shows this size is to set up some place where you can see all the entries as they enter and leave, a parade of hot rods, street rods, and customs rolling past. Our parking spot had a great view. We managed to meet with see many car show friends and see some really incredible machines, dozens of vendors and a huge swap meet. The drive both ways went well with no problems. Home again and ready to go again next weekend.
