09-25-2013 10:05 AM 129-25 Show on the square
An annual fall festival held around the town square drew in over 130 cars and trucks for their car show. The fall weather held on, cool morning drive and warm afternoon. This was a short drive after the all day trip the day before. I enjoyed talking to other participants and looking at their projects, had some good pulled pork but the line was pretty long for cobbler with ice cream. The afternoon got a little long after the day before so I cut out before the awards and headed home. All in all a good day.

09-25-2013 09:58 AM 128-24 GoodGuys Indy
Indianapolis and back was about a 300 miles round trip for three of the ''Old Guys''. The trip itself was an ordeal on Indiana 36 which would make a good place to test tanks but watch out for horses on the road. The day at the 500 track was a very comfortable fall day and as is the case for really big shows like this, there is almost too much to see. We walked and looked all day and visited with strangers who were interested in our hot rods and even met up with friends who were there as well. The autocross and swap meet and pro built show cars are well reported but it's best to see what ordinary rodders drove in. When we finally got tired and ready to leave it was decided to go back to Illinois by a different road. It was a good trip and a great day, there and back with no trouble. I guess from the flyer in the goody bag this may be the last GoodGuys at the 500 track as plans are to move to the state fair grounds. Even after a long day and lots of rough riding I'm off in the morning to another show on Sunday.

09-20-2013 07:10 AM This is just too Cool
My friend Fuzzy Ron had some paint issues on his T-bucket thanks to shoddy work by a local ''street rod builder''. When he showed this to another builder at another shop an unusual treatment was offered. I would add that this painter/builder is an Artist in metal and his solution is incredible. The logo space on the tail gate was covered with a piece of metal artwork and it's just too Cool for words. I am also adding some pictures of the ''Old Guys'' plaques on their rods.

09-20-2013 07:03 AM 127-23 Tight and Loud
After the Saturday show I drove to a nearby town Sunday morning for a small show at an auto parts store. I've attended this one for several years and it has out grown the parking lot where it is held. Almost every show I attend is for one good cause/charity or another and so was this one but between the producers needs for several tables and the local bar band's speaker set up the car space was severely reduced. The store was open and customers had no room to enter and leave which caused other restrictions. I don't go to car shows for entertainment other than the car show itself and I do appreciate the effort to supply music and announcements, but I feel the music should be in the background. I don't know if it's true all over but all of the car shows I've been to the participants pretty much stand/sit around and talk about car stuff or answer questions about their ride, and very loud bands and DJs leave no room for 'any' conversation. That was the case this day. I think I'll do my bit to help the congestion and not go back next year.

09-20-2013 06:46 AM 126-22 Beautiful fall day...
An absolutely beautiful day for a car show and parade. This fall festival was about sixty miles away and offered not only a car show but one of my grandsons was marching with his school band in the parade. The car show went well with some entries I hadn't seen before and several friends to visit with. We also enjoyed some really good pulled pork followed by soft serve ice cream. The day wrapped up with a good drive home, no trouble, no problems. I rolled into my just finished new garage addition and made plans to get the hot rod out the next morning for yet another chance to show it and see other people's creations.
