What I have posted in the last few entries actually took place on and off over the 4 years of I was in high school.Being a student living at home with little money, made things go rather slowly. After graduating high school,I went to a technical school to learn collision repair. The work on the '38 was non existant. Was kinda of hard to work on the car from 4 states away. Found a job in the industry after graduating, and got woking on the '38 again. This time with more experiance and a little more money.
Our first idea was to put a mustang II front suspension under it.Being that this was before all the aftermarket kits were available,we actually torched the front suspension out of a MII donor car. After several days of staring at the frame,we figured it would be better to try a nova sub frame instead. The '38s front frame rails have a very high kick up in them and I could not figure out how to get the MII crossmember in were it needed to be. After finding a useable donor nova, we installed the new front clip in the '38 and were back on track again. The old monte carlo engine took a trip to Lingefelter Racing for a rebuild, and found its way back into its new home in the '38. The monte carlo rear end and trans made there way under the '38 also. The body got set back onto the frame.
Being that this was actually my first build ever,I made a number of mistakes/direction changes, etc. We first started with a well used '75 Monte Carlo. Pulled the running gear, column, electrical system and what ever else I thought I could use.
