Dressed all the welds on the braces. Using a gas strut to hold the trunk lid. Came with brackets that I wanted to brace up.

03-30-2013 06:48 PM More trunk work....
With the majority of the trunk lid cleaned up,I move to the actual trunk and trunk jamb. Needed to clean up some past work that was done and had since been removed. Cleaned up the run channel around the trunk opening. Filled some extra holes in the braces that were not needed.

With the undercoating removed,I started repairing the holes. Dressed the welds and stripped the rest of the underside of the lid.

Started by taking the coating off the underside of the trunk skin. A little bit of time with a heat gun and putty knife most of it came off. Finished off by washing it down with lacquer thinner. It always amazes me how a part made in 1938 could still look brand new when you clean it up. The last picture is blurry,but its the only one I have.

03-24-2013 06:11 PM Trunk Lid
Pulled the trunk lid off the '38 today.Needed to do the prep and repairs to the underside of it. Had a number of holes cut/drilled/torn in it.
