02-23-2014 02:27 PM Spare tire mount
My old rod that went from the fender to the cab mount was chromed and badly rusted I figured it was easer and cheaper to make a new one out of stainless steel rod and then polish it.

02-23-2014 02:23 PM Pre-fitting the front fenders
In my efforts to make the fit of fenders as smooth as possible I pre-fitted them to the truck. The first thing that I noticed was that the spare tire bracket hole did not match the fender. I needed to move the bracket’s hole needed to move forward and outward. I drilled out the holes in the bracket just a little to allow me to tilt it forward. I fabricated some spacers out of ź” stock to sandwich between the frame and bracket. I fabricated a bracket out of ź” stock to support the tire and will bolt it to the bracket with cartage bolts.

I didn’t like the painted rear view mirrors so I am making up some out of stainless steel. They still need some work before I can polish them.

02-09-2014 01:57 PM Fenders and running boards
I took my cab dolly and modified it to hold my front fenders. I changed it so I could work the bottom first. It still needs a little more Bondo and it will be ready to flip and start the outside. I also got the rear fenders and running boards in primer. A little light sanding and they should be ready for paint.

02-09-2014 01:54 PM Bed cont.
I got my bed back from the painter and had my buddy come over to help set it. As you may remember that I had a problem with the license plate sticking out the side and I was catching myself on it. I modified the rear cross sill moved the plate there. I made new tail light brackets to move them in closer to the bed. My painter told me I could save some money if I masked off the Chevrolet on the tailgate. The truth be known I think he just did not want to be bothered. I got some small LED tail lights to install in the upper bed rail. They have both running and turn lights. Red in the back and amber in the front.
