11-20-2012 07:03 PM Cab rebuild
The doors were always a little loose. So this winter I plan to get the cab ready for paint. I removed the doors and all the trim pieces and found the front door jams were made out of wood. Most of the wood was rotted.
(I was able to score a complete set of steel jams and the crossover piece that goes behind the dash off a 37/38 cab on e-bay. These cabs are very close to a 36 low cab.)

10-11-2012 02:20 PM Paint booth cont.
I had a couple of hand winches lying around so I added some rope to the poly. I attached the rope to the out side of the poly strung it under the poly up to the ceiling through an eye hook and down to the winch. I added eye hooks above the winch to keep the rope from tangling. I then placed a candle between the eye hooks to lube the rope to allow it to work smoothly.

10-11-2012 02:18 PM Paint booth
I seen a lot of homemade paint booths made out of polyurethane, so I decided to build one for myself. I started as most others do hanging the polyurethane, hanging some fans with furnace filters, and an exhaust fan with more filters. I placed the exhaust fan in a window which I can open. I took the hanging of the polyurethane one step further.

10-11-2012 02:16 PM Cab dolly
I dug out my old cab dolly. I added some modifications. First I add two 2x4s with some heavy duty hinges to mount the cab to. This is so I can tilt the cab up to work on the bottom. I also added two feet to the front so that the dolly won’t tip over when I tilt the cab.

10-11-2012 02:14 PM Cab lifting device
While waiting for the last show of the season I drug out my cab lifter. I built it to lift by the upper part of the door jam. I mount it on top of my engine picker.
